Your Choice Practice bring and share event – 28th February

Our first ever in-person Your Choice Practice event for practitioners  offered attendees the opportunity to engage in a variety of interactive workshops and brought together the expertise of practitioners in the delivery of Your Choice, hosted by London Improvement and Innovation Alliance (LIIA) and London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU).

London’s expert Your Choice practitioners were the focus at last Friday’s first pan-London Your Choice training event held at the iconic Tabernacle in the heart of Notting Hill.

We heard about and explored the various ways in which Your Choice CBT tools and techniques can be weaved into enjoyable prosocial activities. During the packed programme, practitioners described the magic of Your Choice – it builds on existing best practice and yet it is at the same time is ‘transformative’ for the young people supported. ‘Your Choice has influenced me to be a better person and a better version of myself’ is how one Your Choice graduate (and panelist) described it.

The training event was hosted by the London’s Violence Reduction Unit and London Innovation & Improvement Alliance (LIIA) as part of the Youth Endowment Fund-funded London Young People Study, which seeks to measure the impact of the innovative CBT-based Your Choice programme in comparison with local authority’s current ways of working across a range of different team types, such as Children Looked After teams and Youth Justice Services.

Florence Kroll CBE, the Chair of Association of London Directors of Children’s Services described how LAs have managed to deliver Your Choice, bringing CBT tools and techniques to young people: ‘Your Choice allows those intuitive habits like taking a young person for a walk, getting them into something like boxing, to become part of the CBT-enhanced systemic practice framework’.

Lib Peck, the Director of the VRU noted: ‘The success of Your Choice is demonstrated by the power of this growing pan-London community of practitioners, who continue to collaborate and share expertise to create lasting change for young people.’

👏 Thank you to everyone who came, who shared and contributed. With special thanks to our speakers
